I cannot stress enough how important it is to find the right doctors to work with on this journey called "Breast Cancer".  If there is a doctor, surgeon, etc. that you do not feel comfortable with, do not be afraid to change!  I did not care for the first breast cancer surgeon my OB/GYN sent me to.  Her bedside manner left much to be desired, she tried to talk me into having a double mastectomy.  While for some women a double mastectomy might be the right choice, it is not the right choice for every woman and don't be afraid to say "No".

While I was going through radiation treatment several of the women who were going through radiation at the same time questioned me as to why I didn't do a double mastectomy, I started second guessing myself.  I asked my radiation oncologist what he thought, he told me with my diagnosis and my predicted outcome, I made the right choice for me.

There are no easy answers, everybody is different, everybody's breast cancer is different and there is no "one size fits all" with breast cancer.

  1. I just saw that you found my book Dear God, They Say It's Cancer helpful in your journey, and I wanted to say I'm glad that it blessed you. I've had two recurrences and surgeries since I wrote that book and just had a scare last summer, but God's not done with me yet or with you. On the journey with you!
